Race Rules & Regulations
All proceeds will go directly to the American Red Cross of Monroe
County. Your participation helps cover the cost of vital disaster
relief efforts in the county.
100% of your entry fee will be used toward Local Disaster Relief.
Participants must be at least 18 years old on May 4, 2008, to run
in the 26.2 mile marathon.
All runners must be able to complete the course in 6 hours. The
course will be closed at 2pm. At that time all health and safety
provisions will be removed.
Anyone on the course after 2pm is at their own risk.
All marathon runners must participate in a training program prior
to competing in the Pocono Mountain Run for the Red Marathon. The
training program must include numerous distance runs of more than
13 - 20 miles. Please do not run in the Pocono Mountain Run for
the Red Marathon if you are not properly trained.
No wheeled vehicles allowed
The marathon is a foot race only. No strollers, bikes, skates,
skateboards, roller blades or other wheeled vehicles are allowed
on the course at any time.

No pets.
All pets are prohibited on the course.
No Headphones.
The wearing of headphones or any device covering the ears with the
potential of restricting hearing is prohibited as a safety precaution.
Buses are available for the transportation of runners to the starting
point, Clear Run Elementary School, from the Stroudsburg High School
Stadium.
Clothing left at the starting point will be transported to the race
finish. Clothing bags will be available at the start of the race.
By participating in this event, you have agreed to hold harmless
the USATF, the American Red Cross and its local Red Cross
Chapters, as well as the County of Monroe, and all the municipalities
traveled through during the course.
The Race Director reserves the right to drug test any participant
competing in this marathon in accordance with USATF regulations.
First Aid Stations will be set up at several intervals along the
racecourse. A comprehensive First Aid Tent will be in operation
at the end of the race.
Water and Gatorade tables will be stationed every two miles along
the racecourse.
Bathroom facilities will be available to all runners at the start
and finish of the race.
Portable lavatories will be located at numerous points along the
racecourse.
The Race Director reserves the right to cancel or delay the race
based on adverse weather conditions.
All marathon participants must remove their timing chip at the end
of the race and place it in a receptacle provided for your convenience.
Any runner that does not return the timing chip will be charged
a $35 replacement fee.
The Race Director reserves the right to disqualify any person who
violates these rules.
Registration
All marathon participants can pick up their registration packet
at the Host Hotel, The Stroudsburg Quality Inn, on Saturday, May
3, 2008 from 10-5 pm.
Runners Expo
A Runners Expo will be held with lots of great vendors along with
presentations from motivational speakers to get all runners ready
for the big race. It all happens from 10am -5pm on May 3, 2008 at
the Host Hotel, The Stroudsburg Quality Inn.
Free Pasta!
All marathon runners can enjoy a free pasta meal from 5pm-8pm at
the Host Hotel, The Stroudsburg Quality Inn, on May 3, 2008. For
a low price, friends and family members can enjoy the pasta meal
as well.
Lodging
Hotel accommodations are available at several hotels in the Pocono
Mountain area. A special marathon rate is available at the Host
Hotel, The Stroudsburg Quality Inn.
AWARDS
All Marathon finishers will receive an official Pocono Mountains
Run For The Red Marathon Medallion upon completion of the race
Prize Money will be awarded in the following categories:
Overall Male Finisher - $2,000 Overall Female Finisher - $2,000
2nd Place Male Finisher - $1,000 2nd Place Female Finisher - $1,000
3rd Place Male Finisher - $500 3rd Place Female Finisher - $500
In accordance with USATF Rules and Regulations, college eligible
athletes are not eligible to receive Prize Money.
The names and addresses of all athletes and the amount of Prize
Money paid to any individual who competes in the Marathon will be
submitted to the USATF.
The award ceremony will happen at the conclusion of the race at
a ceremony to be held at the Stroudsburg High School Stadium.
Trophies will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in
the following Age Group categories:
Males 18-29 / Females 18-29
1st Place Finisher / 2nd Place Finisher / 3rd Place Finisher
Males 30-39 / Females 30-39
1st Place Finisher / 2nd Place Finisher / 3rd Place Finisher
